We have an increasingly dangerous and poisoned world exactly for the reason that the people at the top of the human heap make a lot of money poisoning our world and the people in it and they are not going to tell you about it. The whole idea of poison through the ages was to knock off adversaries without any clear trace back like an arrow in the back gives. What’s the point of an assassin advertizing his dirty deed?
Scientists Consensus Statement on the Use of Chemical Dispersants
in the Gulf of Mexico calling for the Obama Administration to
immediately halt chemical aerial spraying in the Gulf region.
They have not been warning people about living downwind of a coal-fired power plant or about the dangers of mercury in medicine and dentistry. They certainly have no intention of changing their tune so they will not be warning anyone about the true dangers of oil toxicity and the chemicals they are using to disperse the oil. It looks like certain communities along the Gulf are turning into overly large gas chambers and British Petroleum thinks they care about people. And the Obama administration is allowing it all to go on and history will remember that President Obama did not go down into the Gulf in the early days with the Army, Navy and Marines to stop BP from using Corexit.
When was the last time you read in the media that power plants in the U.S. put 48 tons of mercury a year into the atmosphere through burning coal? China spews 600 tons of mercury into the air each year, accounting for a great part of the world’s non-natural emissions. And the volume is rising quickly with more coal-fired energy plants now under construction in China than exist in the entire country of England. In 15 years we can expect China to be pumping 1,400 tons of mercury into the air or approximately 60 additional tons a year as new capacity comes online.
In the Exxon Valdez case, most people who worked with dispersants are dead now. Their average death age is around 50.
Every time Linda Young takes her dog out for a walk, morning or evening, she can smell it. Young, an environmental activist who lives near the beach in Navarre, next door to Pensacola Beach, said the odor of oil is now a constant part of her life. If the wind is blowing in from the Gulf of Mexico, she said, “the oil smell is often very strong, too strong to be outside.” We live in a toxic world that has become increasingly more dangerous as we blanket the world with huge tonnages of chemicals and heavy metals like mercury. Wherever we reside or work we face exposures that can damage us, make us sick, and even kill us.
U.S. law leaves consumers vulnerable to poisoning from thousands of unregulated chemicals in regular household products, in dental and medical products, as well as from chemicals in food, pesticides, preservatives, industrial wastes and more. As the years pass, the concentration of chemicals we are exposed to increases, and since 1975 for instance, the rate of childhood cancer has increased 20 percent; a woman’s lifetime breast cancer risk has increased from one in 10 in 1973 to one in eight today; cases of autism spectrum disorder have increased by 10 times since the early 1990s; and the rate of learning and developmental disabilities in children has risen to one in six. All babies being born today have high levels of dangerous chemicals in their systems and this problem is only going to get worse for those living around the Gulf.
If the Gulf disaster does not wake us up to the dangers of living in a toxic world then nothing will.
Many people will be exposed to chemicals in air, water, sand, soil, and food as a result of the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. It is important to understand the potential toxic effects and take appropriate protective actions to reduce exposure and harm. Chemicals in crude oil and dispersants can cause a wide range of health effects in people and wildlife, depending on the level of exposure and susceptibility. Crude oil has many highly toxic chemical ingredients that can damage every system in the body. Dispersant chemicals tend to make the toxicity of the oil even worse and in reality no one knows for sure the toxic profile of what’s coming up from ocean floor once it’s mixed with Corexit. But we don’t need to be rocket scientists to see that it’s an ungodly toxic mess – a deadly cocktail from hell, so to speak.

“BP is still in the dark ages on oil toxicity. BP officials stress that, by the time oil gets to shore, it is “weathered” and missing the highly volatile compounds like the carcinogenic benzene, among others. BP fails to mention the threat from dispersed oil, ultrafine particles (PAHs), and chemical dispersants, which include industrial solvents and proprietary compounds, many hazardous to humans,” writes Dr. Riki Ott, a marine toxicologist from Alaska, who has written two books on surviving the Exxon Valdez oil spill.
“A million gallons of Corexit – where did it come from? So quick to dump their Corexit, BP must have expected a blowout. Within weeks BP dumped over a million gallons of Corexit into our Gulf of Mexico. How did a million gallons of Corexit just happen to be handy right after the Gulf well explosion? What kind of person and organization would so willingly poison the Gulf, kill uncounted dolphins, whales and every manner and form of sea life while threatening the public’s health?”
Chemical Exposure Creates Chemical Hypersensitivity
Dr. Parris M. Kidd writes, “Chemical hypersensitivity is a crippling condition. The afflicted individual often cannot be in the presence of any manmade substance, or even with traces of cigarette smoke or chemical cleaners. Their senses of taste and smell are exaggerated; they become sensitive to gases coming out of the carpeting or the walls, to household glues and nail polish and all the other solvent-based materials. Socially, they often can’t be around people who smoke or wear perfumes or colognes. As these patients develop spreading sensitivities to more and more different chemicals, exposures to just traces of these will trigger severe reactions. There have been cases of people who committed suicide rather than have to live in isolation to avoid exposure.”
Kidd continues, “According to this zero-tolerance model for toxic exposures, the capacity to resist toxic damage varies from one person to the next. The balance between good health and bad health is very delicate, even for those who are outwardly very healthy. Good health can be dramatically destroyed by one chemical exposure, as occurred at Bhopal in India, or slowly drained away by low-level exposures to the sorts of toxic chemicals that permeate modern life.”
Nutrients to the Rescue
Herbalist Brigitte Mars correctly points out the fact that, “There are a number of foods that can better help our bodies tolerate the effects of pollution. Eating lower on the food chain minimizes our chemical intake. Consuming more grains has a multitude of benefits. Their high fiber content binds with toxins and lessens intestinal transit time. Their vitamin B6 content nourishes the thymus gland and their vitamin E content helps the body to better utilize oxygen. The grain buckwheat is high in rutin, helps to protect against radiation and stimulates new bone marrow production. The mucilaginous fiber in seaweed helps to prevent the reabsorbtion of radioactive strontium 90. Following the bombing of Nagasaki, a group of surviving macrobiotic doctors and their patients avoided radiation sickness by eating brown rice, miso and seaweed. They also did not get leukemia. Seaweeds also help to break down fatty deposits. High chlorophyll foods like wheatgrass and barley grass strengthen cells, transport oxygen, help to detoxify the blood and liver as well as helping to neutralize polluting elements and stimulate RNA production. Sulfur-rich vegetables like broccoli, cabbage and mustard greens combine with heavy metals and help prevent free radical damage.”
