Sex is an explosive subject, one that many people just cannot deal with. Religious people like to make judgments about sex that can turn ugly as they are threatened with anything that takes them out of their box of fixed concepts and ideas. Doctors on the other hand have to deal with human sexuality in a straight-forward manner, which is not easy for anyone.

Doctors need to get serious about sexual medicine because sexual health and intelligence is crucial to human health and happiness.

1. Sex Relieves Stress
2. Sex Boosts Immunity
3. Sex Burns Calories
4. Sex Improves Heart Health
5. Sex Boosts Self-Esteem
6. Sex Increases Intimacy
7. Sex Reduces Pain
8. Sex Reduces Prostate Cancer Risk
9. Sex Strengthens Pelvic Floor Muscles
10. Sex Helps You Sleep Better

Sex is at the center of more things than we would like to admit and there are those institutions which would have us remain as ignorant as possible about our sexualities. “The idea that we are vital, sexual creatures is still looked at in some cases with disgust or in other cases a bit of embarrassment,” says Dr. Joy Davidson, a New York psychologist and sex therapist.

For doctors or anyone else the positive attributes of healthy sexuality can only be understood in the context of the stupefying darkness surrounding human sexuality. Doctors and psychologists are the ones who have to deal with the aftereffects of sexual violence so they better understand what we are dealing with.

Sex, Violence and our Race Consciousness

Sex is such a pure force at its root and essence that it lays at the heart of our deepest vulnerability. So deeply is sex impregnated in our being that it touches our souls. The reason sex drives itself so deeply into our soul nature is first, we were created with it, and secondly we were given it not only as the base of our creative energy but as a natural path back to love and union.

So when that gets abused the deepest part of our nature is hurt, often it seems, beyond repair. Attacking a person through their sexuality gives a person access to the unspeakable. It gives them access to the absolute center of a person’s vulnerability. Sexual violence turns the basic universal energy back in and on itself in a way that twists our very essence.

Sex lies at the very root of our existence and when that root is rotten the rest of our vehicle of consciousness is prone to a multitude of disease states and psycho-spiritual distortions. Culturally we have received many contradictory messages that have led to destructive sexual patterns. Instead of celebrating sex as the creative force it is, we have been led into turning sex into a clandestine, guilt-ridden affair. This influences our entire worldview in ways that are sublimely and negatively degrading.

For anyone not understanding the nature of human vulnerability and how one person can hurt and cause great suffering in another, rape and child sexual abuse demonstrate the hurt humans are capable of feeling and dishing out to others without remorse.

Rape envelops the whole world of its victims; it turns their world into living hells and children who have been abused sexually live a life of strange shadows. There are no words strong enough to describe the way rape victims feel. They are locked in a nightmare that seems to have little relevance to the outside world. Having had their bodies violated and their minds tortured it is almost impossible to communicate the feelings to others who have no real perception of the depth of physical and psychological abuse a person can suffer through.

Every time I close my eyes the nightmares come,
they attack me over and over and over again until dawn.
Flashbacks, nightmares, he is back
again he takes control, I’m like a puppet,
he has all the strings.
He is strong, I am weak, he has all the power,
I have none. He caused pain.
I got hurt, I am tortured
because of him!

Rape happens and it happens frequently. It is one of the least reported crimes within the UK and the USA. In the States alone 78 women are raped every hour. That’s 1,872 per day, 13,000 a week, 52,000 a month, and 629,000 a year. There is no way to calculate on a worldwide basis what the numbers actually are especially because only a small percentage of rape victims report the crime.

Some estimate that only 16% of all rapes are ever reported to the police. One police survey showed that although 90% of women who had never experienced a sexual attack, when surveyed believed they would report the crime, in reality only about 6% of women who had actually been raped made formal allegations.

If we include child sexual abuse and sibling abuse and date rape these numbers swell terribly since it is estimated that approximately 30 percent of all women have suffered through some type of sexual abuse. That’s only a billion women but who is counting? And let’s not forget the boys who get abused.

A staggering 83% of rape victims knew their attackers, and almost half of all rapes happened in the victim’s home. The vast majority of alleged victims are under 30 with a fairly high proportion of those aged under 16. If we combine incest and child abuse, which are not defined as rape, the age level drops much further.

The shocking truth of sexual violence is seen when the number of rapes that were reported in the UK to the police tripled between 1985 and 1993, but the number of men who were convicted of rape remained virtually the same. According to UK statistics, out of the 4600 rapes reported in 1993 less than 10% resulted in a conviction. That was a drop of 24% on the figures for 1985. It is strange how society deals with rape and this is highly visible in the way female rape victims are treated in court. Often then are made to feel at fault and this is one of the basic reasons women avoid taking their attackers to court.

Incest

Incest is such a traumatic violation that its victims often forget that it even occurred. But the emotional scars live on. Ongoing problems with relationships, sex, trust, touch, addictions, paralyzing depression, and guilt can, when the cause is unknown, make you feel crazy and certainly out of control.

Incest is the most common form of child sexual abuse.  It is the abuse of the child’s personal and sexual boundaries by the very person(s) entrusted with her/his care. Incest is any use of a minor child to meet the sexual/emotional needs of an adult or older sibling whose authority is derived through ongoing emotional bonding with that child. It is the violation of trust that damages the child on the deepest levels imaginable.

Fear of being alone in the dark, of sleeping alone, nightmares, night terrors (especially of pursuit, threat or entrapment) are all symptoms that often remain for life. So are suicidal thoughts, attempts, obsession, depression, inability to trust (trust is not safe); guilt/shame/low self-esteem, the feeling of carrying an awful secret; being generally secretive feeling crazy, different and feeling oneself to be unreal and everyone else to be real.

There may be denial, no awareness at all, repression of memories; pretendin, minimizing (it wasn’t that bad, or having dreams or memories (maybe it’s my imagination). Actual details of abuse may never be fully remembered; however, much recovery is possible without complete recall.

There are many reasons why women, men and children suffer in silence. Fear, embarrassment, shame, stigma and the fear of not being believed are just a few of the reasons, which get more complicated when we look at the legal and courtroom realities of rape cases.

Conclusion

Sexual violence is a common aspect of human behavior. The fact that we do not bring into public view the daily realty about rape, which is happening to someone constantly every minute on the planet, is telling. It is my feeling it is the spirit of sexual darkness which allows the rich, powerful and elite to rape the entire planet unhindered.

Our civilization is about rape, about how banks rape everyone else, how pharmaceutical companies chemically rape people with their poisonous drugs, how companies rape the environment for profit and on and on. That is what rape is. Rape is the annihilation of love.

Perfect Sex is dependent on perfect love,
which is dependent on perfect oneness,
which is dependent on perfect communication,
which is dependent on our devotion
to the pure vulnerability of our beings.
With perfect love comes perfect sex.

Love is what makes sex enjoyable to the soul.Having sex without love does hurt us and does create imbalances in our physical, mental and spiritual bodies.

Special Note: U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said that it would be “deeply troubling” if Russia or Hong Kong had adequate notice about Edward Snowden’s plans to flee to a country that will grant him asylum and still allowed him leave. The United States government clearly would like to rape Snowden of his freedom to be honest about the government raping the constitutional rights of its citizens. The proverbial scapegoat is hiding in a world too small for anyone who wants to come up against Uncle Sam. Official American attention is now fully on the bad guy and the good guys can go on with the massive rape of their citizens’ privacy. Putin compared Snowden to WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, who has been given asylum in the Ecuadorean Embassy in London, saying that both men were labeled criminals but consider themselves rights activists and champions of freedom of information.

Sexual rape is a crime that is relatively easy to get away with. Rapes of many other kinds are legal. We have all been recently given a lesson on how financial institutions/people are getting away with crimes (financial rape of other peoples’ lives) with hardly a one going to jail. The worlds’ militaries are ready to rape the world with World War again but this time everything threatens to breakdown into chaos and confusion, which is exactly what happens to anyone’s life after they have been raped or abused.

Regarding incest: Who were the parents of Adam and Eve’s grandchildren?

  • Ottmar Straub

Mentioning that just 17 % of rape gets reported is one side – that more than 50 % of reports are fake. My daughter and me got separated for two and a half years just because the mother wanted to push me out of her life and my daughter loved me more than her. A brutal “with-hunt” started against me with a poice-squad assaulting my flat and a long intense mobbing from all sides – meanwhile I won the case, cause my daughter (10 years old) was fighting for us. The psychic damage is immense. It is important to understand that any chasing of so-called pedophiles does not help to improve the case – it is worsening.

It is very important to understand the roots of abuse and the fact that our way to deal with intimacy and the suppression of it combined with the scaremongery of the bad guys is leading to increasement of abuse.

While it’s true that there ARE false accusations-after finding out what is involved in reporting & following up/prosecuting; a LARGE percentage of women, (AND Men), choose not to go any farther. I know. I’m both a survivor, a former rape crisis/Domestic Battery counselor.
I’m also the mother of a beautiful, smart, loving, married 20-something who recently found out her chances of getting pregnant and actually getting through the 38wks, are basically NIL. WHY? Because my ex joined a “Fathers Right’s” group after our violent marriage & even more violent divorce. Between that and having a terminally il l father, who was VERY well-known and highly respected, (who would have disowned his son had he the capacity to do so at that point); the courts wouldn’t believe me, ignored my daughters constant vaginal infections whilst she was just 8-10, ALL the valid reports of Domestic violence/rape/child abuse & neglect, alcoholism & drug abuse-were ALL being “processed”.
I should have known when we would get into Judge’s chambers for hearings, and the usage would give my ex a hug and ask him about his father; I was screwed.

After hearing about cases like mine; MANY women will just decide to “deal with it” on their own, rather than being “raped” all over again by an often cruel justice system.
I’m sorry your wife did that to you-but after spending over 20yrs as a counselor

      • Lainey1960

(Sorry, iPad froze); I CAN tell you that I don’t believe a single one of my clients were lying to me; and VERY few cases that either I arrived at/treated/ or met in ER, were “false reports”.

  • mark, thanks for the article.
in my eyes, circumcision is the original rape.
    it humiliates and frustrates.
it teaches that sex and violence go together.
it teaches anger, frustration, hatred, misogyny.
it teaches fear, terror and terrorism.
it teaches that cruel aggressors overpower the sweet, small, pure and innocent.
    it teaches helplessness and victimhood.
it teaches that it’s ok for big people to hurt little people.
it teaches that life is not good – it steals the soul.

Patricia, it is incredibly sad that you take an article about real issues of terror, abuse and suffering, and twist it so selfishly to usurp and take control of a damaging subject for personal gain. If you want to discuss rape, incest, and the damage done, fine. But to change the subject completely like that as if the article had no meaning was completely rude and self serving. As someone who has been abused, your post is insulting gives the impression of being derogatory and demeaning, is dismissive, and completely inappropriate. Body modification being compared to rape is stupid.

      • Interesting, Tanya. This is the standard “shaming” response to anyone who dares to mention circumcision in connection with other sexual problems. It seems to me that there might be some sort of ‘coaching’ going on, encouraging people to make that type of comment. Certainly seems designed to end all conversation, doesn’t it. I should be ashamed of myself and drop it – right? Sorry, but you ran into the wrong person. Perhaps you do not know that I was circumcised. Yes, they used to circumcise WASP (white, anglo-saxon, protestant) girls in the USA… specifically in Kansas – though I’ve heard from others who were circumcised in other parts of the country – and in other countries.. So if I think circumcision is a form of rape, please forgive me. I wrote a book in 2006: “The Rape of Innocence – Female Genital Mutilation & Circumcision in the USA”. I’m hoping you might read it. And I’m hoping you will not continue to try to shame people for their points of view. The points I made are very valid. Read them again.

  • How in the world could you write this article without mentioning genital
mutilation, especially male genital mutilation which gives rise to so
much rage, sociopathy and rape in american society.

This is an imprint. One would have to think babies are passive bits of flesh to think this is an isolated event confined to infancy.
