Everyone can be a force for good, yet we cannot deny the fact that too many can be a force for evil. We who are good have no choice but to continue to be good even if bad people surround us. Yes, we have every right to defend ourselves, but goodness is a state of being, so we need to continue to be good, to be okay no matter what.
In general, we as a race have not learned the lessons of love, and that is taking civilization into a trench so deep it will be tough to recover from. With all the beauty in the world and in us, it is incredible that we are allowing the forces for evil to dominate and lead us back into the darkness where suffering, pain, and death rule every day.
One can no longer ignore the signs of impending disaster in the world across social, economic, financial, political, and environmental fronts. Things aren’t adding up, not making sense. We seem to have no choice but to stand by and watch the world trashed and yet we must be proactive with our inner relationship to self and our more trusting, open, and vulnerable relationships with others.
Mercy is key to a society remaining “functioning and tolerant.
Singer Nick Cave writes, “Mercy ultimately acknowledges that we are all imperfect and in doing so allows us the oxygen to breathe — to feel protected within a society, through our mutual fallibility. Without mercy, a society loses its soul, and devours itself.”
“Mercy allows us the ability to engage openly in free-ranging conversation — an expansion of collective discovery toward a common good. If mercy is our guide we have a safety net of mutual consideration, and we can, to quote Oscar Wilde, ‘play gracefully with ideas.’” the songwriter continued.
Hardline fascists, communists, and health officials are not promising mercy. Health officials are anything but loving as they destroy the world, creating suicide, death, poverty, and now the beginning of massive starvation. In the area of vaccines, there will be no mercy.
Only Love Can Truly Save The World
Love is the heavenly force that binds all as one, two as one, three as one,
and so on. Human loves are necessary as steps toward the divine.
Love is the power that closes the circuit between beings. There is nothing
more beautiful than true love, nothing more needed, nothing more hoped for.
Love is what life is all about except if you are a politician. Love is what holds us together and gives us the strength to face life’s challenges. Love is essential. I certainly do not know what I would do without it, and it is hard not to suffer when thinking about all the people who do not bathe in love relationships.
The healthy human heart needs warmth,
is warmth, and can give warmth to others.
Making Love Practical
To listen is to suffer because we do not want to listen to anything that might require a change. To listen is to change. We cannot change without listening. Listening implies a change. We need to change just to listen. Listening is the ecology of being; it opens the doorway to the heart. Listening creates trust between beings; listening creates love.
Nothing shows off the quality of our love better than our listening skills, and in essence, listening is what keeps people together. People who listen to each other end up wanting to be and stay together for nothing connects us better than our listening to each other’s world of feelings and experience. Listening is love, and love is listening, they are qualities of being that reflect each other correctly. Love does not exist in human relationships without deep listening. Yet, we delude ourselves all the time about this, for profound listening is something that few people have either experienced or trained with.
Wherever you find a poverty of communication you will
find a poverty of love, and wherever you find a
the poverty of love, you will find a poverty of deep listening.
The price of non-communication is conflict. Most of the suffering of the world, the conflicts within our inner worlds, and the greater conflicts in the external world of societies and nations is a result of misunderstandings that arise from the poverty of communication. The path of risking communication on these deepest levels is a path that will draw a person closer to their own heart, closer to becoming a bigger person, a more selfless being, a more loving and caring being.
“Real listening requires that we get our reactions and responses out of the way in order to hear exactly what the other person is saying. The first step is to quiet the feelings and thoughts jangling around inside of us and to put aside all reactions and “tapes” playing in our heads, spinning tunes of past feelings and ideas and future expectations,” writes
Christopher Hills.
Conclusion
The agenda of sociopathic, egomaniacal, billionaire oligarchs has always been the same – accumulating more wealth, power, and control, using whatever means necessary to accomplish this mission in life. The agenda of loving beings, on the other hand, is to love, nurture, and protect.
They want us at each other’s throats over race, mask-wearing, social distancing, and following the orders of tyrannical pea-brained sociopath governors and mayors enjoying their roles as dictators.
Donald J. Boudreaux said, “In the midst of the ongoing lockdowns and with no end in sight to the hysteria over COVID, I’ve lost all of the natural optimism that has long resided within me.” Love tends to optimism, so embrace as much of it as you can, you will need it.
We who are into love need to continue our loving ways even as darkness is spreading throughout the lands. Love and listen, and if enough of us do that, eventually, the light will return. It might take a while, even a few decades, for it looks like nothing will stop the storm like nothing stopped the Nazi Blitzkrieg. Prepare and take care!
