How Important is the Sun in Climate and Cancer?

Published on December 28, 2018

Though sun exposure has been demonized by dermatologists and ignored by climate change pundits, it is essential if you want to avoid cancer. Optimal vitamin D levels are crucial to reduce your risk of invasive cancers. Researchers from UC San Diegodiscovered that vitamin D levels of 48 ng/mL or higher were linked to a 67 percent reduction in cancer risk when compared to those whose levels were 20 ng/mL or less.

Studies have shown that higher sun exposure throughout your lifetime is linked to a 70 percent lower risk of developing breast cancer. In 2018 The British Medical Journal revealed that high vitamin D levels were associated with a reduction in cancer risk of 20 percent when it came to liver cancer.

Astrophysicists understand the sun, mainstream climate scientists don’t and neither does the medical industrial complex, which has been recommending a level of 20 ng/mL as “ideal” for many years. It is the same story with vitamin C. Medical recommendations are sufficient to avoid scurvy but not high enough to avoid vascular disease. Same story with iodine.

A study found that U.S. women with ovarian cancer were four times more likely to have low vitamin D blood levelsthan women without ovarian cancer. This study compared vitamin D levels greater than 23 ng/mL (58 nmol/L) to lower levels.

Everyone knows that most mainstream doctors know next to nothing about nutrition (blame medical schools and their teachers) but they should at least understand that 20 ng/mL is reasonable if bone health is our only concern, but its not enough to prevent cancer.

Climate change might not lead to cancer but if it reduces our sun exposure it will. Cold damp conditions are damaging to our health and require special treatments but it has not been considered how increasing cloud coverage, precipitation and geoengineering (designed to further block solar rays) will increase the risk of us and our loved ones getting cancer.

Disease is not a mistake, it is a natural consequence of many factors coming together, not all of which we have control over. We cannot control the climate though there are those who fantasy is to do just that and make us pay for it with carbon taxes. We cannot control the weather and sometimes there is no sun for weeks or even months at a time but we can take vitamin D in sufficient quantities to avoid getting sick.

Disease is often a consequence of mistakes we have made in the past that we have to rectify in the present and in the future. Disease is often a matter of ignorance for most of us are not even aware of what we are doing wrong so we can start doing things right and our doctors do not help in this regard. In fact often they hurt us beyond all reason.

The sun is a primary player in climate and health both so its not a good idea to ignore or avoid the sun. Ocasio-Cortez’s “Green New Deal” calls for creating a House committee to draft legislation to fight global warming and turn the U.S. economy into something akin to what Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders envisions. Democrats will take control of the House in 2019 and many want to see global warming become a central part of their agenda. Republicans are unlikely to go along with a green deal in any form, and cracks are even appearing among Democrats on climate policy.

Democrats are suiciding their party because instead we actually have Cold Climate Change. It is cold climate change not man-made global warming that is confronting us; but no matter what you believe the following recommendations on vitamin D is important to know.

Modern medicine is actually as responsible as any other factor in us losing the war on cancer and politicians will be responsible for unbelievable amounts of death and disease for leading us away from any preparations for the increasing cold that will shorten growing seasons and thus agricultural production. “A new cooling era would play havoc with world food supply, and those who rely on unreliable wind/solar energy will regret their choices,” writes Viv Forbes.

For most people today the answer is no, you are not getting enough vitamin D. A new study has found that the number of people being diagnosed with vitamin D deficiency has tripled from 2008 to 2010 in the United States. Some researchers believe that up to 75% of the United States population may not be getting enough vitamin D (levels below 30 ng/ml).

A 50,000 IU capsule costs as little as 21 cents, ($21 for a bottle of 100 capsules Amazon US )

This mega dose formula may be what your family needs to protect themselves from the ravages of viral infections. It is also what one wants to use if one has cancer, diabetes, MS and just about any other disease one can think of. Normally D3 is sold in 5,000 IU units (see below)

but this product from Biotech has 50,000 IU units. Vitamin D lowers inflammations of the body, which are what Alzheimer’s, M.S., cancer and Parkinson’s patients are suffering from. 70% of people diagnosed with Parkinson’s are estimated to have low levels of vitamin D.

Sunlight dominates the chemistry of the blood. People who do not get sunlight do not have the same richness and redness of blood as do those who secure plenty of sunlight. There is not a tissue or a function in the body that is not benefited by regular and judicious sun-bathing. Herbert M. Shelton

Taking one 50,000 IU capsule of Vitamin D3 every two weeks will result in 80% of adults bringing their blood levels to above 40 nanograms/ millliliter, an optimal level for good health. A 50,000 IU capsule is the equivalent of amount of vitamin D from sunbathing for 3 days in a sunny climate. You can take more 50,000 IU pills initially to feel the benefits more quickly.

*About 20% of adults are at high risk for Vitamin D deficiency: especially those who are obese, pregnant, shut-in, avoid the sun, have dark skin, are senior, live far from the equator, or need to deal with an illness, injury, or surgery. They need at least 2 times more Vitamin D.

A Word of Caution

The skin produces approximately 10,000 IU vitamin D in response to 20–30 minutes of full body summer sun exposure—50 times more than the US government’s recommendation of 200 IU per day! It’s nearly impossible to get too much vitamin D from sunlight or from foods (unless you take way too much cod liver oil). Nearly all vitamin D overdoses come from supplements.

Too much Vitamin D can cause high calcium levels that can lead to kidney failure, constipation kidney stones, heart dysfunction and mental status changes. Knowledgeable Health care practitioners wisely recommend that when supplementing a diet with D3 and K2 you should never take calcium supplements; just eat a normal healthy diet. Don’t use this high dose vitamin D product on a daily basis. For people who have brought up their vitamin D levels  5000 IU per day should suffice.

Vitamin D and TB

TB is also a major global problem: Nine million people a year develop the active disease worldwide, which kills two million each year. Scientists have shown that a single 2.5mg dose of vitamin D may be enough to boost the immune system to fight against tuberculosis (TB) and similar bacteria for at least 6 weeks. Their findings came from a study that identified an extraordinarily high incidence of vitamin D deficiency amongst those communities in London most at risk from the disease, which kills around two million people each year.

Vitamin D Will Protect Against the Flu

One of the greatest triggers of influenza, the swine flu and deaths from pulmonary deficiency is vitamin D deficiency. Vitamin D reduces the risk of dying from all causes including the flu. Researchersfrom Winthrop University Hospital in Mineola, New York found that giving supplements of vitamin D to a group of volunteers reduced episodes of infection with colds and flu by 70% over three years. The researchers said that the vitamin stimulated “innate immunity” to viruses and bacteria.

Dr. David Brownstein recommends: Ensure you are taking adequate amounts of vitamin D. I frequently have my patients take short-term, larger doses of vitamin D (10,000-50,000Units/day) for 2-5 days at the first sign of the flu. The current dietary guideline for humans is to consume 50-200 IU of vitamin D a day. However the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition’s Dr Michael Hollick recommends levels as high as 50,000 IU.
