Even Hand Sanitizers Are Dangerous
There are many dangers in the world today, dangers for our children that threaten us and our families. So many, in fact, that it is hard to keep track of them all. Some we might expect but who would, for instance, expect to read a pediatrics report that details risks from energy drinks that says kids shouldn’t use the popular products. The potential harms, caused mostly by too much caffeine and other ingredients, include heart palpitations, seizures, strokes and even sudden death say the authors of the report in the medical journal Pediatrics.
That of course is just the tip of the iceberg. So many dangers there are we might choose not to have children because it is that difficult to protect them from all that might hurt them. Humane Pediatrics is a testimony against the dangers that pediatricians themselves bring to our children but we also have to worry about dentists with the love for mercury fillings and poisonous fluoride they want our children to drink with their water. Many of the topics in this summary chapter are detailed elsewhere in other chapters.
This book even has no choice to warn parents about leaving their children alone with priests that have been abusing the young for as long as they have walked the earth. The Roman Catholic hierarchy in this country has promised accountability and justice for children sexually abused by priests but it seems like the Church has a long way to go in terms of delivering on that promise. A new inquiry has found that nearly a decade after the scandal engulfed the American church, children are still in peril and some leaders are still stonewalling investigations.
