Essentials of Natural Chelation Therapy at Home

Published on December 13, 2011

In this article I present some of the best natural oral chleation products that work with different principles because chelation is a long-term process and it behooves people to alternate and experiment with different types of natural chelators and to use them alternatively through the months and years. I also present in my protocol a new form of chelation therapy and detoxification assistance using transdermal means (topical chelation therapy), far infrared detox therapy and detoxification baths that greatly assist the process of chelation therapy at home.

The pristine environments of the world have vanished, We have now realized too late that the same thing has happened to our bloodstreams, cells and tissues. As the ability of science to measure increasingly smaller amounts of toxins in the body improves, we are finding that it does not take very large amounts to degrade bodily functioning. What’s worse, these many toxins combine in unpredictable ways to produce a combined effect, worse than the sum of the individual effects.

The really bad news is that we have open nuclear wounds on the planet belching out radioactive materials around the entire northern hemisphere, a fact that the entire medical community stubbornly ignores. Medical officials have also kept their mouths shut about the clouds of mercury that have been penetrating every corner of the earth—as well as every cell in our bodies. All the coal fired plants in the world together put out thousands of tons of mercury into the environment and it gets into everything. Modern medicine and dentistry have also contributed to the poisoning of the public by their use of dangerous chemicals, heavy metals and radiation (For more on radiation dangers and treatments see my book Nuclear Toxicity Syndrome and also the second edition of my book Iodine).

Some crazy countries routinely use depleted uranium weapons on the battlefield and the fallout from that stuff stays around for a few billion years.

Fortunately for our children and for us there are natural and semi-natural chelation therapy that can reverse much of the effect of the heavy metals on human health. Heavy metals as mercury, lead, arsenic and other chemical poisoning and even uranium can be eliminated with the proper natural chelation treatments and supplements.

Chelation has been shown to be effective at removing plutonium from the most carcinogenic locations in the skeleton, such as on bone surfaces near living cells.[1]

Dr. Jaquelyn McCandless says, “Oral agents, especially DMSA, can encourage yeast overgrowth.” When chelating people with a heavy metal burden, particularly when they are young children or very elderly or have any chronic disease, it is best to mobilize and remove heavy metals from the body gently, slower rather than faster, so that the body can reabsorb less and avoid flooding the body with toxic metals that cause further oxidative stress due to their free radical activity.

Almost 20 percent of the children in this country are chronically ill or disabled. That’s a very different situation from what it was 20 or 30 years ago, and there’s no explanation given by the public health authorities as to why that is true.- Barbara Loe Fisher- National Vaccine information Center

Natural Chelation Treatmets and Products

Natural chelators are safe, non-invasive, affordable and available without prescription as they are considered food supplements. In reality there is a tremendous amount of anecdotal evidence with a host of chelation products and substances on the market but very little hard proof. It is far easier to make claims than to prove their efficacy by way of costly clinical studies.

Metal chelation is a complex and serious matter. It is a fact that you can end up in worse health after chelation than when you started if you are not well-informed and do not proceed carefully under the care of a competent healthcare practitioner.

Synthetic chelators can be used to good effect by competent doctors but their dangers are ever present. Some of the more aggressive chelation procedures are appropriate in the cases of acute toxic exposure but even with stage-four cancers or imminent threat of heart attack or stroke it is probably best to use gentle approaches whenever possible.

Mortality from cancer was reduced 90 percent during an 18-year follow-up of 59 patients treated with calcium-EDTA. Only one of 59 treated patients (1.7 percent) died of cancer while 30 of 172 non-treated control subjects (17.6 percent) died of cancer (P=0.002).[2]– Dr. Walter Blumer

Dr. Garry Gordon, a leader in the field of chelation says, “No one on planet earth is operating at optimal levels without doing something about the toxic metals. Thus the conclusion I draw is that chelation appears to be a lifetime necessity for all. There is no chelation that can dent the lead levels of bones unless continued for at least seven years (bone turnover time).”[3]

So, if you are betting your patients’ health on effective protection, you need to get into chelation and detoxification for the long haul. This is one of the principle reasons we need natural chelator nontoxic substance. Using synthetic drugs with their own toxic side effects is not the best way to chelate.[4] Even EDTA, which is much less toxic than DMPS and DMSA, may not be appropriate for treating low-level lead exposures because it can be toxic in that it also increases excretion of some essential metals. EDTA produces substantial diuresis of zinc and a temporary 30-40 percent decrease in plasma zinc.[5]

Dr. George Georgiou says, “Many health practitioners use synthetic chelating agents such as DMPS, DMSA, EDTA and others to mobilize and remove heavy metals from the body. There are advantages and disadvantages to using these. One advantage is the power of their mobilizing activity—they are quick to mobilize and eliminate certain metals in the body, but this may place a huge burden on the body’s detoxification systems. Further symptoms have been reported by natural medical physicians throughout the U.S., such as intractable seizures in pediatric patients and multiple sclerosis in adult patients due to taking high doses of DMSA over extended periods of time. These are valid reasons to be at least cautious in the use of DMSA for the treatment of mercury-toxic pediatric patients. The fragile brains and nervous systems of children with autism, PDD and seizure disorders should be handled with considerable care so as not to increase the damage.”

Chelation therapy was introduced into the United States in 1948. The treatment is well recognized by doctors around the world.

Oral Chelation Products

Heavy Metal Detox – Oral Chelation Formula

In a large metal foundry in Russia, Dr. George Georgiou tested extensively many natural substances for their efficacy in removing heavy metals from the workers there and found chlorella and cilantro so effective—when used “together”that he introduced “Heavy Metal Detox” (HMD) in 2005.[6] But the issues are not straight or clear-cut as Dr. Georgiou explains, “During the three years that I have been researching the efficacy of certain natural substances for their heavy metal chelating effects, I have stumbled across a few surprises. For example, the literature was full of testimonials on how chlorella and cilantro are excellent chelators of heavy metals, so we tested both of these in carefully designed, double-blind, placebo-controlled trials. Let’s take Chlorella vulgaris as an example—when we tested this alone in pre-post provocation urine and feces tests using 3,000 mg daily, we found no difference between the pre- and post-tests. In other words, chlorella by itself was not eliminating any metals that could be detected by an ICP-MS at parts per billion levels of measurement.”

Dr. George Georgiou and the Russian government invested one million dollars in a double-blind, placebo-controlled trial with 350 people that has shown that when natural substances are combined, they work as effectively as synthetic chelators. After much experimentation Georgiou selected cilantro, chlorella and a chlorella growth factor extract. The Mexicans eat a lot of cilantro and there are doctors there who have pioneered the use of this plant in detoxification and chelation protocols. It is important to remember the important point that medicinals work best in combination with others that are carefully selected and balanced in a formula and full protocol.

HMD (Heavy Metal Detox) from Dr. George Georgiou gives us, in my opinion, the best possible medical formula to help remove radioactive contamination. It is interesting to see that uranium-238 is being eliminated in the hair using the HMD protocol.

table.jpg

If metals are present in the storage organs, then the probability is that you will get a dramatic INCREASE in the toxic metals compared to baseline – this indicates that the HMD™ is pulling heavy metals out of storage sites into the blood and then into the hair. This is a sure indication that the person has metals stored in the body and the clinical decision is to continue taking the HMD.

The unique HMD™ patent-pending formula has been scientifically proven to cleanse your body and remove the following toxic metals:

  • Mercury
  • Lead
  • Cadmium
  • Aluminum
  • Arsenic
  • Uranium
  • Antimony
  • Bismuth
  • Nickel

Metal – Free

Another excellent chelator that works as part of a complete protocol, like the HMD does, is Metal-Free, which was designed and created by Dr. David Minkoff. He developed his unique chelation system to save his wife much the way Dr. Rashid Buttar developed his TD-DMPS to recover his son from autism. Dr. Minkoff wrote to me saying, “We have noticed for the past ten years an increasing number of patients with high uranium levels in the hair or on stool tests. Since uranium is one of the heaviest and densest metals, it behaves in the body as lead or mercury would with the added danger of radiation. I have no explanation for the increasing levels and have attributed them to the armor piercing weapons used in the Middle East and the fallout eventually coming back here and getting into the water and vegetation and then into people. We have even seen it in small infants. Metal-Free will increase the levels of uranium in the hair and stool after challenge which shows the increased excretion.” He stated this to me well before Fukushima happened!

The peptides in Metal-Free bind to heavy metals at several sites on the metal molecule rather than at one site. This creates a non-competitive irreversible bond. The peptide’s affinity to metal is strong, meaning that when a metal is picked up by Metal-Free it will not lose the particle along its way out of the body. Metals may be removed in the urine, sweat or fecal matter. Heavier metals, such as lead, mercury and uranium, are principally removed through the bowels, which mean the kidneys are protected from the heavy metals.

The cell receptor sites in the body have a lesser affinity to heavy metals as compared to Metal-Free. This means the locations in the body where metal is being stored will release this metal when the product pervades its area. When the metal is released from the receptor site, a molecule in the Metal-Free formula attaches itself onto the metal or toxin, which keeps it soluble and in circulation to be removed.

The formula attaches itself using all three methods of bonding (ionic, covalent and hydrogen) while DMPS uses only ionic. Metal-Free’s triple bond prevents the metal from being lost and reattaching itself into another area of the body. The peptides in Metal-Free are nanosized meaning they can easily penetrate skin and mucous membranes.

Stool levels for heavy metals using the Metal-Free formula are as follows:

Dr. Minkoff said to me that, “Metal-Free, for reasons unknown and we have checked many times, does not bind beneficial minerals and so does not deplete the body while removing the heavy metals.” This is of course a problem when one uses synthetic chelators like DMPS. Metal-Free has been used by many doctors on thousands of patients as have all the oral chelation products I am presenting.

ALA – Alpha Lipoic Acid

Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA) and N-acetyl cysteine (NAC)) did not make my top fifteen medicinals but would be next in my priority list. ALA is a serious chelator and should be taken with caution by starting at low dosages and supporting its use with a full protocol, which includes clay to make sure that the heavy metals do actually leave the body.

In the 21st century the center of pharmacology needs to be shifted away from medicines that add to people’s already heavy toxic burdens, to medicines and protocols that reduce these burdens.

Dr. Bert Berkson, who was licensed by the FDA to study the intravenous use of ALA, has had success even with some very difficult cancers. Dosages, though, have to hit the sweet spot to affect changes and cures. When it comes to concentrated nutritional medicine (Natural Allopathic Medicine) it is important to remember that we are using medicinals that are not poisonous (because the body needs them, that’s why we call them nutritional medicines). This means the operating medical principle is not the dose makes the poison (allopathic terrorism). It means that we can take the dosages up to the saturation point. With some medicinals like magnesium and vitamin C we have bowel tolerance levels to inform us when we reach this level. With sodium bicarbonate we have simple pH paper for a guidance system. With just about everything else we have plenty of medical science to guide us.

Edible Clay

Edible Clay assists in Heavy Metal and Chemical Detoxification. Many naturopaths recommend ingesting clay on a daily basis to maintain optimal health. Generally, it is suggested that one to two teaspoons of clay mixed in water be taken daily. It is recommended to take the clay on an empty stomach first thing in the morning for best results. If you cannot take it first thing in the morning, at least make sure that it is in on empty stomach. If you’re taking any medication, it is recommended to wait 1-3 hours before ingesting clay, but please check with your physician, as medications vary in time release and content. Clay passes through the body acting like a vacuum cleaner or sponge carrying poisons out of the body.Since clay is not digested and assimilated as it passes through the alimentary canal, the clay and the absorbed positively charged ions are both eliminated together.

Transdermal Chelation Therapy

Far Infrared Detox Treatment

One of the best passive exercises is the radiant heat of an infrared sauna which causes a profound deep sweat. After about 30 minutes of exposure, the blood vessels of the skin dilate to allow more blood to flow to the surface to support the cooling process. The millions of sweat glands covering the body are infused with fluid from the blood. In turn, they empty to the skin’s surface, thereby flushing large amounts of toxins, including toxic acids and heavy metals, from the body,” writes Dr. Robert O. Young.

Biomat Detox – Far infrared helps to detoxify the body, it removes waste and toxins from the body. Increased blood circulation stimulates the sweat glands, releasing built up toxins and waste from the cells including an accumulation of potentially carcinogenic heavy metals, alcohol, nicotine, sodium, sulfuric acid, cholesterol and uric acid. In addition to sweating, far infrared is capable of removing toxins via other body systems, such as elimination. Toxins are thought to cause or exacerbate such health issues as Alzheimer disease, arthritis, attention deficit disorder (ADD), autism, cancer, diabetes, convulsions, high blood pressure, heart disease, hepatitis, pneumonia and more.

Some people who have had extreme exposures to toxins in the past may find that they do not sweat as readily as others do, but with time they will begin to sweat and excrete the toxins. Also being dehydrated can prevent sweating as this is the body’s way of conserving water so be sure to drink adequately and especially before using the BioMat.

Some people find it helpful to do a short warm up of exercise before getting on the BioMat.

Occasionally, people who have had toxins accumulate in their body for numerous years may feel worse for a few days before they feel better. As the body eliminates waste material from each cell, there will be positive improvement.

These symptoms may include more frequent bowel movements and urination, slight nausea, mild headaches, various discharges, mucus, skin breakouts or acne. When you experience a healing crisis, assist the process (by drinking lots of liquids, keeping warm, resting and exercising for lymphatic movement) to promote the rapid elimination of any toxins and disease elements that are manifesting themselves as phlegm, catarrh, mucus, running nose, enlarged tonsils, fever, etc. This is nature’s way of righting some internal wrong. It is also known as the “reversal process”. Whatever has been suppressed in the body for years liquefies and is eliminated through the normal elimination channels.

Detox Baths and Topical Detox

When we get serious about detoxification we investigate every tool to facilitate the process. When it comes to using the skin there are other techniques and options besides sauna, pad and deep sweating. The most basic and ancient earth materials can be used to literally suck the poisons through the skin and this can be enormously helpful and safe. Clay, specifically bentonite clay (a very fine volcanic clay), is ideal for this and is very inexpensive, practical and can be used in a patient’s own bathtub. Bentonite used in a bath can draw out toxic chemicals through the pores of the skin.

Clay bathing is one of the most effective methods in existence to help assist the body in the elimination of toxic substances that have accumulated in the body. Clay baths stimulate the lymphatic system and deeply cleanse the body ’s largest breathing organ – the skin. Acting directly on the body as well as acting as a sy stem atic catalyst, clay used in this manner interacts with the body ’s immune system and helps to remove the post-digestive burden placed on the major organs of the body.

Clay also pulls toxins through the skin when applied topically in the skin. The process of using clay topically is very simple and can be done by any body – all you have to do is cover your skin with clay using your hands or a spatula and, when sufficient time has passed, you wash your skin clean with water. You can utilize clay on y our body throughout the year, although I recomm end that you do it in the sun and when it is hottest so that the clay layer will dry more quickly .

Sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) and magnesium baths with the appropriate clay added in can can help enormously to remove toxins from the human body. Even sodium thiosulfate can be added to these baths and that instantly neutralizes any chlorine in the bath water while simultaneously providing sulfur for the vital sulfur pathways.

Conclusion

No matter what chelating method you use, they will all be more effective if your magnesium levels are not depleted. Magnesium is very important for phase one detoxification and it, along with other minerals like zinc, displaces toxic heavy metals from the body. Magnesium is a crucial factor in the natural self-cleansing and detoxification responses of the body. Thus it is reasonable to assume that low levels of magnesium would render a person or child vulnerable to heavy metal mobilization during chelation. Many of the problems with chelation can be reduced when a person is given sufficient magnesium. The therapeutic value of magnesium as a transdermal application reaches well beyond the potential of dietary magnesium or oral magnesium supplements. Transdermal therapy effectively saturates the tissues, delivering high amounts of magnesium directly into circulation.

[4] The earliest types of chelation involved synthetic agents such as BAL, penicillamin e and EDTA administered intravenously for acute toxic metal poisoning. Subsequently, DMSA and DMPS were utilized, first intravenously and later orally and now even transdermally. Chelation therapy provides a relatively safe, effective, and inexpensive alternative to the drugs and surgery often used for circulatory disorders such as coronary heart disease, carotid (neck artery) stenosi (blockage), and leg artery stenosis (blockage). Chelation is a process by which toxic substances in the body, particularly heavy metals can be excreted safely. However, numerous negative side effects are associated with each of these chelators (with the exception of EDTA which is ‘relatively’ safe ) including allergic reactions involving the skin and mucous membranes (itching, exanthema or rash), as well as occasional cases of Stevens-Johnson Syndrome or erythema exudative multiforme.(11). Other side effects include nausea, headache, muscle aching, changes in taste, severe malaise, dizziness, numbness, insomnia, diarrhea, weight loss, extreme fatigue, leg cramps, cardiac arrhythmia, liver and kidney damage, abdominal pain, anxiety, severe restlessness, mental changes, tremors, inability to concentrate, poor memory, impaired equilibrium, chemical sensitivities and tinnitus. (12). Studies have shown up to 30% of patients have severe negative side effects as a result of these synthetic chelating agents, which may develop after a single dose. For warnings against DMPS all one has to do is go to the DMPS Backfire website.

I downloaded this article, dated 12/13/2011 like this one, in 2012. However, in the present rendition no mention is made of your work with Dr. Alan Greenberg.

“I have had the privilege of studying with many of these brilliant doctors. The first one was Dr. Alan
Greenberg who created a stand-alone chelation formula named Chelorex. This is a good formula if
you want an-everything-in-one-type product that contains a long list of appropriate and well-tested
ingredients. Dr. Greenberg put his money where his mouth is and spent hundreds of thousands of
dollars testing his formula and it showed very positive for uranium elimination as did the HMD.”

    Why is that?

  • John C Durham

I recommend Dr. Greenberg. Works for me. Almost 100,000 users in the last 15 years. Consults with each patient. It’s easy, simple, fast, cheap.
He wants to come out with a new formula. Can you think of any reason not to invest? Let me know.
Not mentioned here, but in your article in 2012, you stated the following:

In respect of that HMD product. I have read a number of articles that are critical of chlorella and cilantro as being great chelators. They are good at picking up heavy metals but the bond is not that strong and the metal can easily drop as its transported around the body on the way to bowel/bladder for excretion. Now its quite possible the combination of the two makes things different. I would rather have seen urine/stool tests during treatment though rather than post treatment hair samples. The hair results certainly show that the product is great for mobilizing heavy metals, with solid increases in the elements in the hair, but the hair is not really an excretion organ. I would want any mercury detox to get dumped in urine or feces or even via sweat. To me those high hair levels show that a lot of metals were mobilized in the body, but does not necessarily mean they were excreted out from your body. A lot of it could have resettled.

With the heavy metals ending up in your hair, then they are effectively out of your system and will be totally gone when you cut your hair, but it would worry that only some made it there and that a lot just got moved around and could cause more damage resettling in other organs when the chlorella/cilantro lost the bond as it moved through the body.

  • David

Cilantro has a very strong affiliation to mercury. If it is not grown in a lab, it is likely to contain mercury. This may explain why mercury is detected after a challenge. You may be putting it there in the first place.

Are any of these products tested to heavy metal contamination?

  • I am really glad to glance at this webpage posts which includes
tons of helpful data, thanks for providing
    these statistics.

Does anyone know if the body has any ability to self chelate? By this I mean without any supplements or herbs or spices, just normal organic diet and lots of water, deep breathing, sweating enhanced by nothing but elevated temperature, as in a hot tub or sauna? Just normal liver and kidney, appendix etc? I am not talking about after special stress like amalgam removal or anything, just normal day to day living.
If one eats well, exercises moderately, sleeps regularly etc etc?

    • herecomesjohnny321

It does, but not enough to get rid of artificially introduced heavy metals. Our evolution taught us how to remove naturally occurring heavy metals that we could get from food and water, but not how to remove mercury from our thyroid due to mercury amalgam fillings and such.
      Hence, one needs to chelate.

    Hi Claudia (again!),

I bought a 3 month supply of the HMD + lavage formula from Dr. George recently.

I have a couple of questions regarding usage:

    1. I am taking 50 mg of Iodine daily (lugol’s), plus the other vitamins
of the David Brownstein protocol (Mg, Vit C, B2, B3, Se, multi, fish
oil). In your opinion, is it possible this might cause adverse effects
or reduction of effectiveness of the HMD protocol? I take the Iodine
about 1 hour prior to taking HMD.

    2. I am taking 8 g per day (2 x 4 g) of a mix of (aprox.) Spirulina 2g +
Chlorella vulgaris 2g + Chlorella pyrenoidosa 4g. And 8 g per day of
Zeolite (2 x 4g) powder. Presumably to help naturally chelate heavy
metals, although the Dr. George research paper suggests that it (Chlorella) is not that effective
in removing heavy metals. Again, in your opinion, is it possible this
might cause adverse effects or reduction of effectiveness of the HMD
    protocol?

I previously did heavy metal testing and had a pretty heavy load (and
continue to have a fairly heavy load, though much reduced, even after
many chelation treatments) of various metals in my system. So I am
sure that I have heavy metals to remove. And I live in China and have
been here for 8 years, so lots of additional exposure to heavy metals.

I hope you can get back to me on this with some opinions, and I plan to
take the HMD for many 3 month cycles if I see/test benefits. And as suggested in the article above, I will try Metal-Free, too.

    Thanks & best regards,

    Paul

    • Hi Paul,

I don’t know the answer to your question and it would be best if you could contact the people at Dr. Georgious site as to whether the iodine or other things you are doing would interfere with his protocol. We respect Dr. Georgiou and feel he would be the best to answer your questions. To our knowledge there should be no problem using both as long as there is a separation of a couple of hours between taking iodine and HMD.

Paul, I know this post is 4 years old but…how did the hmd go ? Any side effects, any improvements?

    Hi

Firstly, I would like to say Thank You to Dr. Sircus for putting out a lot of extremely valuable information for free. I have one constructive criticism however — I have bought 4 of the ebooks, and I find it very difficult to find detailed protocol info in any of them, i.e., how much to take/use of the various protocol items. Is this because of legal liability issues possibly?

I have read that Vitamin C should be avoided any time before and after taking Chlorella because it interferes with chelating effect of Chlorella. But it is an important antioxidant for use during chelation detox. What is Dr. Sircus’s opinion on this?

    Thanks,
    Paul

    • Paul,

A number of issues play into why Dr. Sircus does not recommend specific dosages of everything on his protocol. First there is no “cookie cutter” “one size fits all” dosage for each thing that everyone should use. A great deal goes into determining dosages for each person including age, size, goal of treatment, what disease or illness is being treated, the current health status and other supplements or medications being used and many other things including each person’s specific reaction to various vitamins and minerals. Therefore specific dosages are only given in private consultation. General parameters are given in the book but some self-evaluation and/or trial and error may be needed if treating yourself without Dr. Sircus’ supervision. It would not be reasonable nor responsible to tell everyone to just take a certain amount of one thing or another and to expect that no issues will arise. And yes, legalities also play into this.
As to chelating with chlorella: the solution to this would be to simply take the Vitamin C 2-3 hours before or after taking chlorella. This can be true with a number of different supplements and anitoxidants. Same holds true with iodine usage…..there should be a few hours separating when they are taken.

        Hi Claudia,

Thanks for your response. I am taking iodine too, so how should I separate this from chlorella time? And should I be separating iodine from chlorella time?? Getting complicated, if so.

        Best regards,
        Paul

        • Hi Paul, Its best to take iodine 1-2 hours apart from other supplements since it can perform as both an oxidant or an antioxidant. Same holds true if taking vitamin c. I like to personally take the iodine separate from everything else. Some people think its ok to take iodine together with other supplements but I prefer to make sure nothing else is being wasted if the iodine interferes.
And I agree it can get complicated especially if a lot of supplements are being used.

      Dear SongLinh,

Right now we don’t have a specific book on chelation with more details….but its a good idea!!

Take a look at the Survival Medicine e-book table of contents. There is much more in that book on mercury and chelation therapy, though not all of it is up to date with Dr. Sircus’ thinking now.

    Dear Dr. Sircus:

Thank you so much for all the wonderful information you have shared with us. I have read your book on transdermal magnesium therapy, 2nd edition and love it! Not only had I learned a lot from the content that you’d put together, I could also feel the essence of the messages. It’s a spiritual recognition in the positive healing force of the natural element that is so essential to our cells’ health and survival. I feel blessed to have discovered your work of true medicine and to be presented with the information that needs to be shared with wider audience. That’s why I tell everyone about magnesium and your work. One of my ambitions is to read all your books! I also hope to meet you one day in the near future!

    Sincerely,
    SongLinh

      Dear Dave,

EDTA is supposed to remove plaque buildup in the blood vessels….do a search on EDTA chelation or visit Dr. Garry Gordon’s website.

I was mercury poisoned by my dentist 3 years ago when he drilled out several mercury fillings without using any precautions. I’ve been to many alternative doctors since then who prescribed extremely dangerous protocols that caused massive mercury redistribution such as DMPS challenge tests, high, infrequent dosages of chelating agents, cilantro, etc. I actually became sicker from the bad protocols than from the amalgam removal. I eventually decided that doctors couldn’t help only harm me. I desperately searched the internet for answers and had the good fortune to find a chelation protocol devised by a chemist named Andrew Hall Cutler. He had become sick from his amalgam fillings and had the right education and training to read physician’s textbooks and objective enough to not buy into the dogma that doctors are indoctrinated into. His is a frequent low dose protocol that includes diagnostic (hair) testing, vitamin and mineral supplementation, dietary restrictions, and chelation with both natural (ALA) and synthetic (DMPS, DMSA) chelators. All amalgams must be removed by a dentist proficient at mercury removal before beginning chelation to avoid redistribution of mercury. He wrote a book called “Amalgam Illness: Diagnosis and Treatment” that is a must have guide for this protocol. I’ve been using the Cutler protocol for myself and my 19 year old son who is severely autistic with great success. I’m 2 years into it and have regained my memory and cognitive abilities, my energy is back, I once again enjoy being around people, my panic attacks for the most part are gone, the insomnia, depression and most of my physical symptoms are gone. My son has gone from being mute to using some speech spontaneously. His grand mal seizures are gone. He’s making much greater eye contact and his awareness of people and his environment has increased. He’s also become more flexible and is losing some of his OCD tendencies. Chelation has done more to help him than all the therapies and special schools he’s been to combined. I plan to chelate him until I see no further improvements.

      Dear Kathleen,
Is it possible for me to contact you on Cutler’s mercury detox protocol? I have quite a few amalgam fillings scheduled to be replaced next month, at the end of January. I have been searching for more information about detox after removal and also found Andrew Cutler’s book. Since you have been following his protocol, I would love to talk with you more about your experiences and the how to approach it. Thanks a lot. I hope you will read this email, and send me a message at: turtleoceanblue@hotmail.com.

    “String Divining”.
As a scientifically trained bacteriologist, and by nature a cynical stoic, I had a great deal of trouble adjusting to “her” use of “string divining”.
However, since we joined together 30 years ago, she consistently proved the concept.

I knew it was pretty universal in old Caucasian cultures (probably passed down) but it has been a literal lifesaver for me.
Literally requiring only a small string bob-line and nothing special as the bob-weight, the results for sick people in testing their food is amazing and easy to prove.

  • As always, great article, Dr. Sircus.

Years ago I read that cilantro is the only substance that chelates heavy metals from the brain tissue. I love cilantro and use it very often. A friend of mine, on the other hand, gets very sick after ingestion. He experiences nausea. About 15 years ago he had a lung cancer and underwent a chemotherapy. He never detoxified the poisons from his body. I assume that his reaction to cilantro is rather a Herxheimer reaction precipitated by the rush of toxins into the bloodstream. It appears that cilantro is working very intensively on his body. I wonder whether I am right…

I read your Special Note with interest. I was in the health food business for 15 years. I learned a form of muscle testing that takes into consideration all the factors you mentioned. I can determine what I need and how much I need at any given time (not always, I have thousands of dollars of homeopathics, herbs, and food supplements and sometimes I cannot find anything to help). An item can make the body strong, over-strong, and weak. Over-strong is worse than weak because most people think that something that makes a weak muscle strong is good for them. Not always. In addition, when the body is sick it tends to switch what it needs frequently; sometimes every hour. If you are not aware, you can actually prolong you problem. Always test to be sure. Finally, your body re-lives your problem, or cycles, as you work. You will re-experience your particular problem many times but the symptoms will decrease until they stop totally. This reliving can go on for years.

      @aldon,
Very interesting comment on “a different form of muscle-testing”.
Could you post a URL (website) to check this further?

I have posted here also today about “divining” – a really mysterious WORKABLE process

I resonated with your natural chelation presentation, particularly on the subject of clays. Personally, I use a clay product mined in Nevada, USA, called Excelerite; it has 78 different trace minerals. I feed it to my pigs, chickens, ducks, goose, cat and three cows; I have put two tons of it in a coarse fomula out on my pastures. And I eat Micro Excelerite myself, one pill daily during the night.

I believe it has cleared my itchy bottom problem that has been with me for years. My animals are in remarkably good health, with lots of energy and high appreciation for their food through which I feed this clay. Whereas the chickens have always enjoyed my good feed of 5-day sprouted grains, chopped greens and some chopped meat, with the clay they have more zest at barn opening. Even during the day individual chickens will come up to me and vocalize their wanting more, and it not just for the whole dry grains I provide, also with Excelerite, Spiulina and powdered seaweed. There is something about the life force in the sprouted grains and clay working together.

Other benefits for me have been a more supple skin, stronger hair and nails and a more rapid healing of wounds, muscle pulls and joint aches.

I must thank you for your many written gifts over the years, mostly in support of my own program toward health. AsIi live in the shadow of Fukishima, I agree with your emphasis on Iodine, which fortunately I have been taking daily for maybe a decade @ 12.5 mg. Within 3 months of starting Iodine, all my skin tags ( genes from my mother) fell off.

    Thank you again…..
