It’s cold because it is cold. It is freezing because of a lack of warmth. The most pathetic joke of the year is Climate alarmists attempting to spin increasing Arctic Outbreaks as a symptom of global warming. Scientists say last month was the world’s warmest January on record. Who would believe this? Not my readers certainly.
As you read this, I am sure you and most Americans know that hundreds of low-temperature records were broken yesterday. More are falling at the time of writing—into the early hours of Friday—as the Arctic mass advances to the southeast.
January 2025 had been expected to be slightly cooler than January 2024. But instead, last month, according to climate fools, broke the January 2024 record by increasing the temperature by nearly 0.1C, according to the European Copernicus climate service, and the BBC who published this alarmist trash. They have no shame, no fear of lying. Natural gas consumption in the U.S. skyrocketed in January, setting records as brutally cold temperatures swept the nation. Prices are way up in Europe as well. Just what you would expect from record warm temperatures. And the Martians just landed on the Jersey shore. Some people will believe everything they are told.
Montreal’s snowiest four-day stretch since records began in 1871.
Americans are seeing some of the coldest and most dangerous air in history this third week of February with temperatures running 40 to 50 degrees below normal. The harshest extremes will grip the north-central U.S., where wind chills of -60F are forecast.

America’s Coldest January Since 1988
January 2025 brought bone-chilling cold to the contiguous United States, marking the coldest January for 37 years. According to preliminary data from NOAA’s National Centers for Environmental Information, temperatures were 0.89F colder than the 20th-century January average, making for the chilliest Jan since 1988.
CONUS mean temperatures in January from 1895 through 2025. January 2025 was colder than 77% of the Januarys since 1895, colder than the January of 1896 even, by -2.25F. Over a dozen cities, primarily in the Southeast, faced one of their top 10 coldest Januarys in books extending back to the 1800s. Also according to NOAA’s GMASI Tracker, the Northern Hemisphere is experiencing its highest snow cover in over two decades–the highest level on record.
The GMASI Snow Trackers are derived from combined observations of METOP AVHRR, MSG SEVIRI, GOES Imager, and DMSP SSMIS. The Global Multisensor Snow/Ice Cover Map (GMASI) algorithm is fully automated. It is a NOAA/NESDIS product.
The Paris Agreement was never worth the paper it was written on.
Severe cold is poised to hit northern China, with the likes of Hohhot, the capital of Inner Mongolia, bracing for record-breaking low temperatures for February. Latest forecasts indicate readings in mountainous regions could plummet to -35C (-31F), setting new monthly records, well-below the overnight norm of -13C (8.6F). Finland Nears -40C (-40F) Finland is enduring a deep freeze with morning temperatures in Kittilä approaching -40C (-40F). Sure sounds like global warming!

Arctic Outbreak Round Ten

Denver observed -7F (-21.7C), marking the coldest Feb 19 in the city’s history. North Platte, Nebraska, saw -15F (-26.1C), with Valentine dropping to -27F (-32.8C), both setting new records. Minneapolis posted a high of just 5F (-15C) and a low of -13F (-25C), with Des Moines reaching just 4F (-15.6C) and bottoming out at -6F (-21.1C) — again new records. Over the 4-hours alone, hundreds of new temperature records have been set and many more will be set today.
Utah Sets Coldest-Ever Temperature Ever: The temperature sank at Peter Sinks, Utah, to -50.9F (-46.1C) on the morning of the 12th of February, making it Utah’s coldest-ever temperature. Wednesday’s low breaks Utah’s previous all-time cold record of -50F (-45.6C), set back in 1913 at Strawberry Tunnel.
The Arctic blast is breaking records elsewhere across the U.S., with hundreds of daily lows falling. Bismarck, North Dakota is one. It posted a new Feb 13 low of -31F (-35C), surpassing the previous record of -28F (-33C) set in 2021
Salina, Kansas just endured its coldest January in decades, with temperatures not seen since 1985. The average reading for the month came in at just 22.9F (-5C), besting records from nearly four decades ago. The coldest day was on Jan 21, when the thermometers read -13F (-25C), setting a new record low for the date. Salina’s freeze was accompanied by significant snowfall. The city received more than a foot (30+ cm) of snow throughout the month, well above the seasonal norm.
Across the U.S., January 2025 was marked by widespread frigid conditions, with 166 out of 191 analyzed cities posting well-below-average temperatures (and this despite official data sets ignoring the UHI effect).
From the Midwest to the Northeast, the mercury held far below average. Cities from Chicago to Boston experienced prolonged cold spells, with many areas reporting temperatures in the single digits (Fahrenheit) and even colder in northern reaches.
Notably, Kansas, Wyoming, and West Virginia had cities averaging more than 7F below their typical January values.
On Jan 22, Kansas City recorded a new daily record low of -8F (-22C), and Pueblo, Colorado, reached -19F (-28C). In the Southern U.S., Beaumont, Texas, set an all-time January record low of 11F (-12C), while cities in Louisiana, including Jennings, New Roads, Lafayette, and New Iberia, experienced record lows ranging from 2F to 7F (-17C to -14C).
All-Time Snow Totals Sweep Japan
Much of SE Asia is reeling under polar-like conditions, not just China, with unprecedented snow sweeping much of Japan. Northern areas, in particular, have been pummeled by feet of snow, with a host of cities experiencing unprecedented accumulations. Obihiro City posted a whopping 120 cm (3.9 feet) in just 12 hours, setting an all-time record there. Memuro logged 105 cm (3.5 ft); Urahoro saw 77 cm (2.5 ft); and Shiranuka posted 69 cm (2.3 ft)—each city setting a historic high.
Japan’s record snow is reported to have devastated Aomori Prefecture apple orchards in, the country’s largest apple-producing region. City has registered an unprecedented 126 cm (4+ft) of snow—and counting—with the heavy accumulation snapping trunks and breaking branches across orchards in 11 municipalities. The autumn harvest in Aomori, responsible for 60% of Japan’s apples, now faces decimation.

4 Feet In 3 Days Buries the Alps
The Alps have been hit with their heaviest snowfall of the season, with 1.2 meters (4 feet) falling in just three days. This massive storm has blanketed resorts across France, Italy, Switzerland, and Austria, making for excellent conditions through the rest of the season.
Chamonix recorded the largest total with 1.2 meters (4 feet) accumulating in 72 hours. Flaine followed closely with 105 cm (3.5 feet), while La Thuile in Italy received 80 cm (32 inches) and Switzerland’s Crans Montana reported 70 cm (28 inches).
Istanbul is struggling under heavy snowfall with widespread disruptions reported. Planes circled above Sabiha Gökçen Airport as visibility dropped, runways iced over — flights had to be diverted. The Czech Republic logged another nose-numbing low Thursday morning (following yesterday’s) of -30.1C (-22.2F), one of the coldest readings ever recorded in the country. Slovenia followed with -19.4C (-2.9F). While Austria read -19.3C (-2.7F).
The world’s largest asset managers—BlackRock, Fidelity, State Street, and Vanguard—flatly rejected most resolutions demanding corporate action on climate and other ESG issues.
