War on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI)

I’ve been reluctant to publish this essay because the subject touches people’s lives in deeply personal ways. It’s one of our time’s most sensitive—and politically explosive—issues. Just ask the 1,000 U.S. soldiers recently dismissed for being transgender. Ask the girls who feel displaced in competitive sports, or those uncomfortable in locker rooms and bathrooms now shared with biological males. These are not abstract debates. They’re lived realities, sparking grief, confusion, resentment, and sometimes quiet despair.

The deep sadness at the heart of the DEI and transgender controversy is that something meant to foster dignity, inclusion, and compassion has instead become a battlefield, turning people against each other over identity, language, and belief. What could be a space for understanding has become a war zone of accusation, fear, and polarization. On all sides, human beings are reduced to symbols in a cultural war. The transgender individual seeking belonging is vilified by some and politicized by others. People with genuine concerns about fairness or free speech are dismissed as hateful or ignorant. Ultimately, what suffers most is dialogue, trust, and our shared humanity. What should have been a healing journey has become another wound in a society already fractured by division.

Author JK Rowling posted on X that Khelif’s ban from boxing is
“a win for women because they won’t be battered to death in the ring by men.”

The core controversy surrounding Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives and transgender rights lies in the clash between efforts to promote inclusivity and the perception that these efforts infringe upon traditional values and individual freedoms. Critics argue that DEI policies can lead to reverse discrimination and suppress free speech. At the same time, transgender rights debates often center on concerns about fairness in sports and access to gender-specific spaces. These issues have become politically explosive as they tap into broader societal tensions over identity, morality, and the role of government, leading to polarized public discourse and legislative battles. It is not an exaggeration to say that there has been widespread resistance against a radical ideology that silences dissent.

However, transsexuality, as a human experience, is real. There are people whose felt sense of gender is profoundly at odds with their biological sex. Some carry this from childhood. Others awaken to it later in life. It is often accompanied by deep suffering, confusion, and a sense of courage. From a psychological and spiritual view, this is not “fake.” It is not “delusion.” It is a complex encounter with identity—and in many cases, an attempt to reconcile inner truth with outer form.

But that does not mean:

  • That gender is infinitely fluid.
  • That biology is irrelevant.
  • Or that a person becomes the opposite sex through surgery or hormones.

To feel like a woman is not to be a biological woman. But to feel that deeply and live accordingly still deserves dignity, compassion, and protection from cruelty.

However, the woke movement turns what could have been a human rights concern into an ideological weapon. It says:

  • If you disagree that a man can become a woman, you’re hateful.
  • If you question whether children should take puberty blockers, you’re dangerous.
  • If you say “mother” instead of “birthing person,” you’re erasing someone.

Woke gender politics have abandoned nuance, science, and language itself in favor of an absolutist, moralizing stance that punishes disagreement. It’s no longer about protecting people. It’s about enforcing conformity through social shame, legal pressure, and cultural control. That’s not compassion. That’s authoritarianism in rainbow robes. Things got to the point in the United States where the Supreme Court had to rule that parents had the right to opt out of LGBTQ themed lessons in schools.

A federal judge in Texas just struck down Biden-era workplace protections for transgender employees, ruling that employers are not legally required to use preferred pronouns, allow bathroom access based on gender identity, or treat gender identity as equivalent to biological sex under civil rights law. The ruling limits federal protections for transgender workers and undermines the EEOC’s efforts to enforce gender identity protections. It reflects the broader legal and cultural war between gender identity rights and those advocating for biological sex–based legal definitions.

President Donald Trump signed an executive order banning transgender athletes from participating in women’s sports, fulfilling a promise that was at the center of his 2024 campaign. “With this executive order, the war on women’s sports is over,” Trump said, noting that schools that refuse to comply may lose federal funding.

“This has become so absurd. Let any Democratic politician take the
position that “a trans man or woman is an actual man or woman” and
watch them lose so badly. Almost 80% of Americans (and 2/3 of Dems) are
against trans athletes in women’s sports. This issue has been litigated to death.”

On his first day in office, former President Joe Biden signed an executive order that set the tone for his administration’s aggressive push to prioritize gender identity over biological sex. On President Donald Trump’s first day, he did the opposite. Trump ordered all federal DEI workers to be placed on paid leave and signed an executive order targeting private companies with DEI programs. The Trump administration has taken decisive action to remove transgender references from federal government websites, implementing comprehensive changes across multiple agencies. 100 days later, we read the headline that 1,000 Troops Who Identify as Transgender Are Being Discharged: Pentagon.

Gender-affirming surgery and drug therapy carry significant medical risks, including bone density loss, cardiovascular issues, infertility, and uncertain mental health outcomes.
Increasing numbers of formerly transitioned individuals have begun speaking out, citing psychological trauma, loss of body function, and regret. Lawsuits are beginning to emerge against hospitals and clinicians who, according to plaintiffs, fast-tracked them through transition without proper evaluation or alternatives. We really do have to ask whether children are being subjected to medical experimentation under the banner of progress, or is it just doctors looking to make a buck? That is standard for pediatricians; just look at all the money they make following the childhood vaccine schedule.

When Trump signed his order, “Defending Women From Gender Ideology Extremism And Restoring Biological Truth To The Federal Government,” he signaled to the country that, as promised, he would stand up for fairness in women’s sports and privacy in women’s spaces – two things most at risk under the Democrats’ regime. Russia and America are in alignment with there being only two sexes. However, America is way out front in terms of tolerance of sexual preferences in the bedroom and even in marriage.

DEI would have ruined our country, and now it’s dead.
President Trump

During his 2024 presidential campaign, Trump telegraphed a dramatic shift to America’s approach to civil rights, vowing to take on “anti-white” racism. “I think there is a definite anti-white feeling in this country and that can’t be allowed,” Trump said.

“DEI was destroying Western values and the culture of meritocracy. The bigots of woke culture subverted our institutions yet claimed to occupy the moral high ground. A nation’s historic culture and values were thrown into the dustbin, while the sinister system abolished free speech. It was a systemic attack on our free society by so-called elites—in reality, a nefarious bunch of lefties whose plan was to shut us all up. It was an Orwellian Big Brother all over again, except this time it was not fiction but fact,” writes Taki Theodoracopulos. The news must come as a shock to most, but it turns out that liberal women in the US are very unhappy. A recently released poll from the American Family Survey held in 2024 shows that only 12% of liberal women are satisfied with their lives, and that they are three times more likely to experience loneliness compared to conservative women.

President Donald Trump banned transgender individuals from serving in the U.S. military and ended diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs. The orders cite “gender radicalism” and “mental unfitness” as reasons for the ban on transgender service members and prohibit sharing bathrooms, bedrooms, and changing areas between biological men and women. DEI programs are characterized as a “woke assault” that undermines leadership, merit, and unit cohesion, leading to a ban on race- and sex-based preferences within the Armed Forces.

By capturing the Democratic Party, a small but potent minority of
closeted LGBTs, has managed to focus the Party’s attention on small
percentage of the American population, to the detriment of everything
important to average Americans, resulting in a devastating loss to Trump.

Why So Many People Hate DEI

It’s not because they hate diversity. It’s because they hate being divided. DEI started with good intentions, but now it feels like forced ideology. It elevates identity over merit, punishes honest disagreement, and turns inclusion into intimidation. People resent being labeled, shamed, and silenced. What they want isn’t privilege. It’s fairness, respect, and the right to speak freely without fear. The backlash will only intensify until DEI stops dividing people and instead genuinely unites them.

The retreat of DEI may be one of the most significant political and cultural reversals in recent history. Corporate America is running from its DEI trainings and programs in droves. Wall Street has soured on it. Many states, and now the federal government, have declared war on it. And many ordinary Americans are tired of it. Yet the rot of DEI extends deeper than most people realize, and it still maintains a veneer of respectability in academia.

I have a son who wants to be a woman. What can we do but love him (her) unconditionally? I am totally against the hormones he is taking, which risk his future health. Since the beginning, I have been sensitive to the political pressure on the young about gender identity. This has created another divide between people, as if we do not have enough to divide the human race. And life is confusing enough for the young without this deep subject put out front. What should be clear is that we do not see this sudden spike in gender issues with children absent provocation. It was a deliberate, liberal operation that disturbed and ruined many lives. Many have had their lives ruined by listening to and trusting the wrong people.

Children are fed a framework for thinking about the world and themselves, whose premises are often fraudulent. Any analysis that does not take place within that framework is portrayed as ignorant at best and dangerous extremism at worst. However, does the framework of two races of humans, men and women, apply here? Flaming liberals, with doctors to back them, challenged this framework in their attempt to create a new identity that is neither man nor woman. Liberals feel that conservatives are herded like livestock away from thoughts of change, led by tightly controlled minds, and there is sometimes truth in this. However, some people always go too far and hurt many people in the process.

David Glasgow, executive director of the Meltzer Center for Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging at New York University School of Law, said, “What we are all trying to work on together is how do we live together in a multiracial democracy and create institutions of opportunity and fairness where people show up to work each day and feel that they have a fair shot at being hired or promoted.” He could not possibly have been talking about Democrats who have championed DEI because their radical stances have had little to nothing to do with working together and fairness before the law.

In the old conservative world, homosexuals had to be quiet about their sexual preference, but then they gained the right to marriage, so they had no need to hide, even in the world of Trump. But there is something about the people pushing gender identity that seems off, way off.

Homosexuals just wanted to get married and be treated like anyone else, but the sexual identity people wish to change the world and do more harm to the feminine principle. Radical liberals want to erase women. Trump is standing up for their most basic rights. Nowhere is this more obvious than when it comes to female athletics. Girls and young women who participate in high school and college sports should not have to face transgender athletes who have physical advantages they do not.

Scientific American has published a piece claiming that “misinformation,”
such as the notion that there are only two sexes
, is “being used against
transgender people” and in order to target “gender-affirming medical care.”

One could go on all day about subjects that divide us. Standing up, saying what you think, and sharing how you feel is difficult. Even families have this problem, so separation, conflict, and refusal to listen to the other side of things are the hallmarks of modern times. No wonder modern civilization is in deep trouble.

Spiked Magazine wrote, “Whether you love or loathe Donald Trump, there are occasions when you have to admire his candor. The US president’s latest executive order, titled ‘Protecting Children From Chemical and Surgical Mutilation,’ will prevent federal agencies from supporting the ‘gender affirming’ model of healthcare for minors. ‘Across the country today,’ it reads, ‘medical professionals are maiming and sterilizing a growing number of impressionable children under the radical and false claim that adults can change a child’s sex through a series of irreversible medical interventions. This dangerous trend will be a stain on our nation’s history, and it must end.”

The Manhattan Institute found evidence that, in the US, between 2017 and 2023, around 6,000 girls under 18 underwent ‘gender-affirming’ double mastectomies, although the true figure could be much higher. Shockingly, at least 50 of these children were 12 years old or under.

New York Attorney General Letitia James told hospitals that they would be violating state law if they stopped offering gender-affirming care for people under age 19 in response to an executive order from President Donald Trump aimed at curtailing federal funding for such treatments.

Conclusion

At its core, the DEI and transgender debate is a collision between two powerful forces: one demanding compassion and inclusion for historically marginalized individuals, and the other defending traditional values, biological truths, and freedom of speech. The controversy turns explosive because it touches sacred ground for both sides—identity, children, science, and morality. One side sees human rights and dignity; the other considers indoctrination, erasure of truth, and authoritarian control. What begins as a plea for acceptance often transforms, through policy, language policing, and social coercion, into perceived ideological tyranny. It divides families, institutions, and entire nations because it demands absolute allegiance to contested beliefs, punishes disagreement, and reshapes cultural foundations at an astonishingly rapid pace.
